A close relative of Aspidistra which was collected in Taiwan by Crug Farm. Forming a dense clump of evergreen, pleated, textured leaves to 40cm on slowly creeping rhizomes. Racemes of fleshy, nodding, purple-yellow 6-petaled flowers in February-May. Protect from frost until hardiness is tested. Shade to semi shade. Leafy well drained soil. Trying in garden 2024.
